BSE Conference 2012: kNOWING AND GROWING
What do we mean by this?
This year, we will be following two themes: “knowing” and “growing”.
At its most simple level, we believe that everyone should "know" what a social enterprise is. But also, we feel that people should "know" that working and doing good are not mutually exclusive. Our aim is to show our guests that working for or creating a social enterprise is a genuine option. The "knowing" will do just this: BSE Conference 2012 will showcase companies that view doing good as central to their whole philosophy.. as we love them.
The "growing" refers both to the individual and the organisation. Everyone that comes to the conference will come away understanding how they can "grow" their own social enterprise from just an idea. We have a series of workshops that will show you how to take your idea and make a business out of it. But we also want to show existing social enterprises how they can develop and expand. There will be a whole stream of practical skills sessions to show how this can be done.

Who Should Attend?
Everyone!!
BSEC 2011 was successful in engaging University of Bristol students, but this year we intend to cast the event city-wide, partnering with KNOWING AND GROWING™, a company that helps social enterprises grow and innovate, and collaborating with the UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST OF ENGLAND and actively seeking the participation of both college and university students, professionals and organisations (namely local Social Enterprises) and of course, the wider Bristol community.

The Lion's Den
Following the conference, we will be hosting a lion's den in partnership with Sustainability, Research Enterprise and Development and other partners. The lions will support your ideas into social enterprises. With a cash prize for the winner and training, support and resources available for all viable and good pitches, we hope that the conference will inspire many innovating projects to develop. Find out more information about the event on Bristol Social Enterprise Society's website here.
